" Filipinos are worth dying for", a line tossed by the late Benigno Aquino Jr. known as "Ninoy" in his nation, Philippines. It was his real passion and love for his country that triggered him to fight for what is right . Filipinos tend to surrender during those dictatorial times but beacuse of the courage of many Filipinos, they've given this generation a better place to live in, democratically. And with this, Republican is the system of our government in this nation. But wait, who and what do the people actually need? Do they really exist?
We were born to follow. Even leaders are good followers. But this idea of being governed and mandated by the people that we don't really know side-by-side sounds alarming in the sense that, we don't know them that much yet, we keep on following them. All those laws and regulations they've implemented are made without even asking for the mass' consent about a certain proposal. They actually make decisions based on their expense.
We, Filipinos, don't need big names to be in position, we neither need a lot of bills nor proposals of a lot of projects that are yet to be started. We also don't need much of those promises that can only be uttered during campaigns.
What Filipinos actually need are those who are: God-Fearing, honest, trustworthy, responsible, kind, helpful and willing to sacrifice his ownself in the call of duty. those who are not having second thoughts of doing what is right and moral. These are what the Filipinos have been searching for in a leader. Someone who could be relied on and could save them from every dangers of life. Just exactly like a superhero that stands firmly in the midst of problems and calamities.
Philippines had reached its 115th year of independence from Western colonizers but the fact still remains, about the unclean officials and cabinets even in the local government about their issues of graft and corruption and of course, their abusive use of power. And this issues should be lessen and if possible, be diminished so that the dignity and inner peace for every Filipino be achieved wherever they go and whatever they do.
